Serious road accidents, burns, sports injuries, conditions like loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, severe bleeding and breathlessness are considered as trauma and need emergency to acutely stablise the patient as early as possible and mitigate long-term effects of the trauma. Immediate and intensive treatment includes resuscitation, airway protection and vascular support.
Adult critical care attends to an illness or injury that requires advanced medical attention but is not considered immediately life-threatening. These include physical injuries, severe pelvic pain, post-operative problems, sports injuries and falls. Advanced treatments are offered at our adult intensive care and high-dependency units.
